Shhhh, the Neighbors are Trying to Sleep

Monza called by many La Pista Magical - the magical race track - has been home to much of Formula One’s history. When built in 1922 it was one of only three permanent racing circuits in the world, the others being Brooklands and Indianapolis.
In 1957 and 1958 Monza hosted The Race of Two Worlds, the [...]

Chase Cesspool - Arizona Edition

Well, should I start this weeks NASCAR Cesspool with THE STORY this week?
Nah, think I’ll skip it til later and start with a missing in action (MIA) report. What, you say, just what or who is MIA? Guess that proves my point doesn’t it?
When was the last time anyone issued complaints over Goodyear tires blowing [...]

Is Ferrari Boss Jean Todt “Shooting Blanks?”

It doesn’t pay to be serious all the time. This one of those times:
Michelle Yeoh, who longs for a child, has adopted a boy and a girl as her own children.
Yeoh said she hoped to have a child of her own one day. She and Ferrari boss Jean Todt have been dating for some time [...]

A Busch wins, and a Busch Loses

Well, what can you say?
The Checker Auto Parts 500 (the 312 for the less “metric” among us) was run with a pair of Busch bookends. One Busch, Kyle, won the event for his second on the year after a side-by-side battle with Greg Biffle who ended the day in second.
The other Busch, brother and reigning [...]

It’s Tough to See a Grown Man Cry

Nigel Mansell broke down in tears today after ending his 10-year absence from motor racing with a nostalgic victory at the inaugural Grand Prix Masters race at Kyalami in South Africa.
The 52-year-old ex-Formula One champ has spent his retirement developing his Woodbury Park leisure complex in Devon, England and cruising the Mediterranean in his Sunseeker [...]

Would You Pay $7.5 Million for This?

In it’s previous incarnation comedian Will Ferrell’s latest film project was called

Hamlin is Daytona Bud Shootout Bound

So just what is it about the #11 FedEx Chevy? Has the instillation of rookie Denny Hamlin made that much difference in a season that has seen the car meet more SAFER barriers than top twenties?
To be honest, I tend to believe that team was used as a testing mule for Gibbs. Now that Hamlin [...]

Miller Brewing Won’t Like This!

A question is posed, first the scenario:
You’re the reigning NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Champion. You’re about to be deposed as Champ but all is not lost, you have suceeded in switching from one successful race team to another. The change of “clothes” is even earlier than expected and you will be wearing Miller Lite blue and [...]

The First Shot Has Been Fired!

Well isn’t that nice, the first official shot has been fired by NASCAR in the multi-car team war. And in keeping with the upcoming season it’s a turkey
.
Big-money teams will be allowed to field only four cars under a cap limit set by NASCAR on Thursday, a move that infuriated the five-car Roush Racing organization.
The [...]

Champ Car Goes “Dark” in Houston

The majority of the drivers on the Champ Car World Series roster will have never been to the city of Houston when Champ Car returns to the Lone Star State in 2006, but thanks to this week’s announcement, they now know what to expect once they get there.
The Grand Prix of Houston organisers unveiled their [...]

Cast Off that Walker Boys, it’s Time to Race!

Johannesburg - The inaugural Altech South African Grand Prix Masters race at Kyalami on Sunday promises to be a closely fought spectacle, despite the light-hearted nature among the drivers at a gathering in Nelson Mandela Square in Sandton on Thursday.

Yea Right, How Will That Work?

After Ricky Craven lost his [avatar:http://cranialcavity.net/files/cts.gif]Craftsman Truck Series[/avatar] ride with Roush Racing he’s been looking for a [avatar:http://cranialcavity.net/files/cup.jpg]NEXTEL Cup[/avatar] ride. The offers haven’t exactly rolled in.
“I’ve had some opportunities in the Busch and Truck series but I’ve made it clear I want to get back to the Nextel Cup Series next year and I want [...]

NASCAR “Crashes” Go Digital and Analog

And you thought you were an expert on NASCAR crashes. Here is another lesson in NASCAR-nomics:

The hot new [...]

Thanks Villeneuve, but no Thanks!

Wonder who pulled Felipe Massa aside and warned him about then new Sauber (now BMW) teammate Villeneuve being a [...]

Chase Cesspool - Texas Edition

Many times in writing the weekly NASCAR Cesspool the lead item ends up being a toss of the coin. Not this week. The “Rocketman” was the prohibitive favorite to take the lead paragraph which is the first lead he has taken since Friday’s qualifying.
Through the first five Chase events it looked as though Ryan Newman [...]

New NASCAR Rule Problematic?

Wouldn’t “new NASCAR rule” and “problematic” be synonymous? It may not be the exact same but the two are far from being antonyms aren’t they?
Anyway some crew chiefs and owners have taken a disliking to NASCAR’s potential new tire rules.
Crew chiefs and car owners are becoming worried about NASCAR’s proposed new limits on tires next [...]
