2007 Daytona 500

He wants to dream like a young man
With the wisdom of an old man.
He wants his home and security,
He wants to live like a sailor at sea.
Beautiful loser, where you goona fall?
You realize you just cant have it all - Bob Seger
“If they would have thrown the yellow, [the win] was in our fingers,” second place Martin said.
“I didn’t ask for a win in the Daytona 500, I asked for a chance and [my team] gave me exactly what I asked for and I let it slip away, slip through my fingers,” Martin said. “I did my best.”
“Nobody wants to hear a grown man cry, all right?” Martin said. “That’s what it is, and I’m not going to cry about it. This is what it is and that’s it. That’s the end. It’s their decision, they made the decision and that’s what we’re going to live with.”
Martin has caught a lot of hell from a certain segment of “fans,” who have called him everything from mercenary to whore for leaving Ford and Roush Racing and jumping into not only a Chevy but, OMFG, a Hendrick’s powered Chevy.
In another heart-breaking loss Martin shows more class and the nature of a true champion then most can dream about.
JEFF BURTON: “Before I leave, I do want to say one thing that Mark Martin told me this winter. This would be his best chance of winning the Daytona 500 ever, and he was right. He knew what the hell he was doing. I know a lot of people scratched their head, Why is he doing, why is he going over there?”
“He’s not a dumbass. He’s a pretty smart guy (laughter).”
Beautiful Loser - Mark Martin
Mark Martin, NASCAR, NEXTEL Cup, Sports, Daytona 500, Auto Racing, Motorsports, Full Throttle

Mark is a great ambassador. I’m a Harvick fan and he won fair and sqaure. If they threw the caution when Kyle wiggled, Harvick was out front, or as we saw, he beat Martin back to the checkered flag. Mark’s gracioua demeanor is an example for us all.
Mark is a gentlemen’s gentleman… I respect him and his choices.
Congrat’s to Kevin Harvick and RCR… a Daytona sweep is awesome indeed.
If Kyle Busch would have stuck right on his tail and gave him a good bump - Mark might have won and Kyle could have come in second instead of crashing.
Oh Yea, if a pig had wings it could fly!
….ain’t it funny how the night moves”
Sorry couldn’t resist
