So much for NASCAR’s new toy being slow.
Fresh out of the Daytona box Jimmie Johnson leads the morning session with a lap of 184.782 mph. (his afternoon speed was slightly lower at 184.672) That compares with David Gilliland’s pole winning speed last year of 186.320 mph.
I would expect Johnson to gain at least another mph [...]
According to the AP Federal Judge William O. Bertelsman has tossed Kentucky Speedway’s anti-trust case into the ashcan of history.
WARNING, snarky comment to follow: It took this judge 18 months to figure this out? I want part of his paycheck. And a judges robe. George needs a fitting for a new robe also.
At this writing, [...]
As it happens HBO (Asia) has played Talladega Nights about 5 times in the last three days in my neck of the Pacific. If nothing else it has allowed me the opportunity to hone my speed remote skills. It’s hard to tell but I think I can shift away from HBO within the first 3 [...]
Remember way back when… Boris Said had his hopes crushed during qualifying for Saturday night’s Pepsi 400. Boris was on the provisional pole. Unfortunately the rain came before qualifying was complete. This forced NASCAR to toss out Boris’ fast lap and start the race based on car owner points.

Coulthard said: “Fernando Alonso aquaplaned off the road [in last year's Japanese grand prix] [...]
Those that are regular readers know I spend enough time outside NASCAR Nation to get a feel for other forms of motorsports. Some of that time is spent in the land of “Roos” and the V8 Supercar Series.
That exposure led me to call NASCAR’s Car of Tomorrow (CORN to FT readers) nothing but a rehash [...]
In the four years I’ve been posting to this sad excuse for a media outlet I’ve had many occasions to quote the writtings Ed Hinton.
Many have described Hinton as “the best NASCAR writer in the nation” as the lead NASCAR writer for the Orlando Sentinel and you won’t find a dissenting voice here.
Not anymore, he [...]
Despite what you read in the press, who apparently take their cue from the many forums and a few blogs infested with haters and deniers, there are many things good about NASCAR.
Aside from the close competition and the amount of corporations, race teams and talented drivers that want to be part of the sport is [...]
Happy New Year! Can we move along now?
As you may have guessed, I’m not very big on the New Year holiday. During my sailing the high seas days it was a day to avoid, a day to curtail my normal drinking habits and let the “amateurs” have their day to hug the porcelain god.
Since my [...]
