6 Busch Events, 6 Cup Winners
Kyle Busch became the 6th different NEXTEL Cup regular to win in 6 [avatar:http://cranialcavity.net/files/bgn.gif]Busch[/avatar] events by winning the Sharpie Mini 300 (or was it The Iron Dog 300?) at Bristol Motor Speedway Saturday.
The event featured 13 [avatar:http://cranialcavity.net/files/caution.jpg]cautions[/avatar], 7 different leaders and the first Busch regular, Ron Hornaday Jr., finishing in 7th place.
Oh… and a little thing called snow made it’s presence felt early as it passed through the East Tennessee mountains and created a one hour plus delay in the action. That preceded a rendition of Frosty the Snowman over the PA system - complete with an appearance of a snowman built by a crewman - and several snowball fights between pit crews and drivers. (UPDATE: Friday night, as Speed Channel was taping “Trackside” outside and the snow started flying, fans gathered for that show started singing Christmas carols.)
Now the question is, what will the weather guesser bring for the Cup event on Sunday? A hailstorm, maybe?
The Dodges didn’t fair too well Saturday and the most recent Dodge victory at BMS was by Richard Petty in 1975. Oddly enough Kasey Kahne broke a similar mark at Atlanta last week. It won’t happen again.
I look for Matt Kenseth or Greg Biffle to take the Food Lion 500. They both looked strong Saturday but with Kenseth posting top 10 finishes in seven of the last eight Bristol races I’m leaning his way.
I could also be blowing smoke and propagating another in a long line of wrong choices. Or [avatar:http://cranialcavity.net/files/winter.jpg]this guy[/avatar] may make another appearance and I will have a chance to change my mind before the green flies Monday.
