A Question With the Wrong Answer
Rick Minter of the Cox News Service had four tough questions for NASCAR. One was directed at Kevin Harvick: “Why should Nextel Cup regulars want to compete on the Busch Series?”
Harvick, the Busch Series points leader, says he can answer that with a question of his own.

I tend to believe the Busch regulars have taken a very large hit in the pocketbook as a result. But that
It’s centainly not fair, but by the same token some of the same teams will have their pocketbooks grow substantially when Toyota enters Busch next year.
In addition with the CoT of the horizon, assuming it doesn’t get the heave ho, the difference between Cup and Busch cars will negate any of the “Cup testing on Busch day” nonsense.
Regardless of motivation let whoever can, race in Bush. If you noticed the grandstands, they are not exactly busting out with fans! It’s not like they are alienting a large segment of fans who root exclusively for Bush racers.
As a newbie racing in the series, if I can hold my own in what many may believe is inferior equipment, against a regular cup driver, it can only help getting me noticed and brought up to cup.
It’s not as big a deal as most people make it out to be. And you are spot on about the COT eliminating Bush races as nothing more than test sessions for the cup drivers. I just read in Autoweek where Detroit is pushing NASCAR to switch the Bush series to pony cars, such as Mustangs, Camaros and Challengers. Now THAT would make a lot of sense, and maybe keep Detroit in the series for a few more years, untill the creditors take it all away!!
Maybe the reason for the empty seats is that they can’t afford the Busch race tickets because their paycheck went right into their gas tank? No? Well it was just a thought. LOL
I disagree Antonette, it’s not a LOL.
I suspect as fuel gets over the three dollar a gallon mark more seats will be empty. If you will remember during the ‘04 Chase fuel prices went p and there were a few empty seats at venues that normally sellout.
