A Texas Sized Finish!

They say everything in Texas is BIG and it doesn’t get any bigger than the finish of today’s Dickies 500 at TMS.

BIG rain storms that delayed, but ultimately allowed the race to be completed. Another BIG win by that Other Guy Tony Stewart, his third as a non-Chaser, and fifth win in eight tries by non-Chasers. (as predicted he so humbly reminds)

Smoke won in dominating fashion leading 278 of the 339 laps. “… I’ve been racing 27 years and I can count on two hands the cars that I had like today. You just don’t get them that often. Days like today are when you appreciate it.” Well said Tony.

A BIG second place by Jimmie Johnson - although he only led a single lap all day - that vaulted him into the points lead by 17 points over Matt Kenseth. Kenseth fought an ill handling car all day and finished in 12th spot.

They also have BIG snakes in Texas they tell me. After the Chase Kasey Kahne has had one can only surmise he has been snake bitten. It’s the only explanation for running in the top ten all day, being in second place as the yellow flies setting up a green-white-checker finish, then, and only then, grenading a Mopar Boys engine handing J.J. his second place finish.

He’s snake-bit, by a very BIG Texas snake.

Dale Jr. had his problems with the retaining wall but managed to pull a rabbit out of his hat with a sixth place finish and remains on the edge of contention at 78 points arrears of Johnson.

Denny Hamlin continues to show being under the Chase microscope hasn’t effected him in any way. His tenth place keeps the rookie on the same edge contention Dale Jr. sits on, 80 points back and in need of a miracle.

More later after the quotes start to roll in, there should be plenty of interest after this event.
