Great! I live on the coast & Eastern Creek is about a 1 hour drive to the west so I will be definitely be attending. One of the best aspects of A1GP is the pit access, I could not go last year but a friend of mine did, with all of the nations using seasoned Euro F3000/GP2 teams to run the cars he was rubbing shoulders with the staff from DAMS, Super Nova etc. The drivers were very open to the public as well.
[patriotic rant]… I glad team Australia has not allowed Alan Jones to continue with the same level of nepotism he demonstrated last year. His son Christian was not up to the task & never will be, young promising hot shoes should be given seat, not family members who have struggled to keep up in karts & FFord, let alone a Lola/Zetech F3000 chassis competing at an international level. I bitched about this before the inaugural season & Christian’s performance in the few races he did last year were an embarrassment, further it went against the team’s publicly stated purpose of highlighting young Australian talent……………[patriotic rant ends]
So does that mean you’re going to be my on scene reporter?
Jot down your thoughts and send them along and I can post them here under your byline and maybe a few pics as well. (don’t forget the Sheilas!)
The openness and access to the drivers and pits comes across well on TV. They always have interviews between the sprint and final events.
Christian Jones did fairly well in the Asian F3 series winning the championship but the competition is even slimmer than in A1.
But I agree he didn’t show me much against the top three of four drivers in A1GP.
My own by line?? Well “technically” I’m under contract to Fastmachines.com as their Australian correspondent, but considering as that cheapskate George hasn’t reimbursed me for my trackside expenses, incurred at the F1 in Melbourne this year, I’m open to offers…..hmmmm, my own by line?
Poaching writers Marc? Josh & George wont be happy!
Hey, all I’m offering is a temporary home for one event, a pitstop as it were, not a permanent place to store your Vegamite.
Besides, I forget about you having been fitted for a tin foil hat over at Georgies place.
George… if you’re around somewhere, sorry please don’t send the black helicopters.
