A1GP: How Good is My Dutch?
If your asking how good my Dutch is, don’t, my language skills suck.
However via the wonders of the internet it’s possible to translate this Dutch language site.
And what comes into view isn’t a very pretty picture concerning A1GP’s once delayed 2008-09 opener at Zandvoort.
Bad news for the Dutch autosportfans, A1GP of Zandvoort seems come in danger. After the opening race on the Italian circuit of Mugello of the calendar was earlier already obtained, now also the race on the circuit park Zandvoort on the excursion seems stand. According to sources of Autosportnieuws.be at present just nine bolides use ready and it are very cumbersome will become to get done a carriage for all 22 teams for A1GP of Zandvoort, pleasing 4 and 5 October.
From what I can determine from that and following paragraphs there are only 9 cars ready for action and doubts that all the teams would get a car in time for the opening round of season four on 5th October 2008.
Zandvoort was recently promoted to being the opening round following the cancellation of original opener at Mugello, Italy.
If this ’source’ is correct then A1GP ‘powered by Ferrari’ are really in crisis. Or if you prefer the Dutch, in groot, groot probleem!

Which goes back to a question you & I were unable answer a few weeks back. Who is “building’ the chassis. Ferrari do the design & consulting but the actual constructor is unknown. It can’t be Dalarra.
How dumb is the person who organised this? When A1 first started the tender was the largest ever placed for a single seater, 40 cars if I recall.
A project of this size can only go to a Lola, Dalarra, Panoz type company. Even Dalarra who are pros can get it wrong. The intial launch of the GP2 car in 05 was anything but smooth. Engine/radiator overheating & brakes problems had to be sorted out. And this was from a company the specialises in production runs of single seaters.
I’m convinced some lucky consultant at Ferrari has sub contracted the whole thing out to a pal.
I bet prince abdul bin whatever his name was is laughing his ass off at the sight of this debacle after the trials he went thru as originator of the series.
