Alonzo a Weakling,” Says Who?
Niki Lauda, thats who.
The former Ferrari, Brabham and McLaren driver has blasted Fernando Alonso’s behind the scenes secret maneuvering as the actions of a “weakling”.
Alonso, who has struggled to accept the equal status of sensational British rookie Lewis Hamilton (well, it takes two doesn’t it?), threatened to screw up his McLaren team over the Ferrari spying affair.
“There are two types of racer,” said three-time champion Lauda. “There are the total egotists. To them nothing is more important than being the best on the track.”
“And then you have the drivers who play the political game in their team on the side, to strengthen their own position. Only weaklings need politics. Alain Prost used to be a bastard for it. But Alonso is worse.”
Alain, are you going to take that in silence? Alonzo, what about you?
Maybe Ron Dennis will issue a rebuttal for Fernando. Or a statement of support for Lauda.
MEANWHILE in other news of motorsports personalities asshats, Uncle Bernie has a parting shot to Spyker by suggesting that the outgoing Dutch team “did not really contribute anything” to formula one.
Great timing Bernie, with Spyker fresh off a stunning performance at Spa.

Yeh, Lauda-isn’t he the guy who called CART lazy racing? Obviously an opinion I value.
Niki correct, there are drivers who play the political game that he feels earn the title weakling. Prost was such a driver, however Alonso has taken it to a new level. Prost would try to undermine his team mate, Alonso was prepared to undermine his team.
Despite my dislike of Ron Dennis, his policy of giving both drivers a equal car & letting them race should be applauded. As for Fred, if he wasn’t smart enough (like Schui) to insist on his #1 status in writting then more the fool him.
Mind you, Ron would never have agreed to such a deal anyway.
