Alonzo Goes Wee, Wee, Wee All the Way Home
Fernando Alonzo may not physically resemble any of the pigs made famous in the classic This Little Piggy nursery rhyme, but one has to admit his actions of the last few months recall certain members of the centuries old poem.
Take for example the little piggy that went to market, Alonzo has entered the market twice in the last year, plus a few months.
Then there is the piggy that had roast beef. Presumably the two-time world champion thought, and many would agree, he was trading up from a “lower cut of beef” when moving from Renault to McLaren.
There was the piggy that “had none,” which nearly came to pass. With his release (Bums Rush?) from Renault Alonzo was reportedly shopping his services to several of the bottom tier F1 teams. None of which wanted to be associated with the ongoing SpyGate scandal, or didn’t have the financial wherewithal to meet Alonzo’s asking price. Or both.
Which brings us to the last Little Piggy, the one that Fernando most resembles, the Piggy that went “Wee! Wee! Wee!” all the way home,” to Renault.
Flavio, you should be soooo “proud!”
UPDATE: Despite the rigorous efforts by the Half-Vast Staff™ of Full Throttle we’ve been unable to confirm a story from Canada that claims Alonzo’s Renault contract contains a proviso that just signed teammate Nelsinho Piquet’s Renault will only have 3 wheels.

They are running Alonso with Piquet!? I cannot not believe they have dropped Heikki. There does not appear to be an Alonso/Heikki McLaren swap so this leaves him out in the cold.
I will go out on a limb right now & state that Alonso will shatter Piquet. Considering his funding & almost unlimited testing for his two GP2 seasons - he tested pre each race in a modified World series by Renault Dallara - in a team built completely around him & Rosberg, Premat, Hamilton (& a few other race winners) performed significantly better. Worse he has a persistent habit of locking his brakes & tyres.
What an ironic situation, Flav all but kicked Nelson out door in 91 at Benetton, with the arrival of Schui, & yet 15 years later he Nelson signs junior to a 10 year management contract with the Flavster. :-p
I really hope Heikki finds a ride & is not tainted by the 2007 Renault disastrous tumble down the performance stakes. 06 Champs to also-ran in 12 months.
Here’s an interesting anecdote on Piquet Jr.
I hate to see Heikki get shafted as well, I actually picked him ahead of Hamilton for the best rookie in F1. Shows ya how much I know. Or rather claim to know.
Your rookie prediction could not possibly have taken into account Renaults drop in performance or the sheer dominance of the McLarens.
Great!! Young Piquet threw the car around with unrestrained abandon
