It has become a tradition, there are so many high rise viewing spots that after a few drinks some girl on a balcony does the flash. The TV coverage has gone a bit PC over the years & doesn’t cover it as much in the race, but in practice & qualifying it happens all the time.
A few years back some old bird complained & wanted it banned as it was not in the best “interests of the Gold Coast & tourism”.Apparently she had not been to the near by beach in a hundred years. She got a bit of TV coverage (balanced for & against) & if anything gave the practice more publicity.
To tell you the truth there so much on display at Surfers Paradise on any day of the week nobody cares. I do love the Qld govt’s attitude to the race.
I had to laugh a bit over some that have been against the FlashFest.
In my three trips thru Queensland there was hardly a beach along the entire coast that didn’t have more than a few “sets on display.”
