With the recent USGP FIAsco at Indianapolis one would think putting more jackasses - or one half of their DNA providers donkey’s - on display at an F1 event wouldn’t be the best option to use as a form of protest. But no one has ever said the anti-globalisation crowd had a lick of sense.

According to Reuters, a band of anti-globalisation protesters are set to arrive at the circuit on race day, intent on disrupting the French Grand Prix to promote their claims that Formula One is a symbol of oil waste. The protesters apparently started walking from Lyon last month, and are due in Magny-Cours for a meeting with ‘radical French farmer and anti-globalisation activist’ Jose Bove.

“There were around a hundred people at the start from Lyon, but we now are almost 300 and are currently resting just south of Nevers,” campaigner Francois Schneider told the news agency, “A public meeting with Jose Bove is scheduled in Magny-Cours on Sunday. We want to ask people to think how they waste oil. For us, Formula One grands prix are the symbol of oil waste. You have a bunch of billionaires wasting oil as the barrel price increases.”
