Auto Club Speedway: A Camping We Will Go?
Altmans Winnebago’s director of Rental Operations, Patrick Moreno, announced rates would be drastically reduced for the upcoming NASCAR race at the Auto Club Speedway, which includes the Stater Bros. 300, San Bernardino County 200, and the Auto Club 500 races.
Altman’s Carson and Colton, California outlets are offering a 2009 35’ Class A Winnebago Chalet with two slide out rooms, two televisions, a king sized mattress bed, two bunk beds each with it’s own drop down LCD screen and DVD player sand two additional convertible beds which allow comfortable sleeping appointments for up to 7 adults and full kitchen and bathroom normally rents for $904.00 over the race weekend is now renting for $599.00.
In addition Altmans is including 450 free miles and unlimited use of the onboard generators and awnings as part of the package.
“De Camptown ladies sing dis song — [Chorus] Doo-dah! doo-dah!
De Camp-town race-track five two miles long — [Chorus] Oh! doo-dah day!”
But I digress. And have a question.
While any price reductions contributing to less being yanked from your wallet is a good thing, I have to ask what has Auto Club Speedway done to match or add on to these special rates for those fans that desire to do the “RV thing?”
From what I can tell, nothing.
Access to infield RV parking went on sale Saturday with no indication rates have been reduced.
It’s safe to assume, based on prices given for off-site camping outside Gate 5, anyone renting a $599.00 Winnebago Chalet for the weekend would have to shell out well over a thousand bucks for a weekend of debauchery racing as viewed from the infield.
To be fair off-site camping prices include 2 reserved grandstand tickets for Saturday & Sunday, but that’s pretty much required when you’re parked outside the speedway isn’t it?
So, what say you Gillian Zucker, how about some special rates given to the RV Denizens that chose to spend the weekend in the infield?
Or how about this Zucker, what say you twist the arm of Billy Ray Cyrus and convince him to fork over a few of the bazillion dollars gained through exploitation of his 16 year-old daughter to be used for further price reductions?
Or do I ask for too much?
