Bill Elliott to be Radio Star
NASCAR legend Bill Elliott is scheduled to headline the premier of the Lanier Racing Live! radio show, a live internet broadcast featuring news and information about Lanier National Speedway (LNS) and the Georgia Asphalt Series (GAS).
Elliott hopes to field three Late Model cars out of his Dawsonville, Ga., based Bill Elliott Racing shop for the 2009 Georgia Asphalt Series and the LNS Super Six Championship: No. 9 Chase Elliott, No. 19 Casey Roderick and No. 91 Trey Poole.
“This type of coverage along with our other local and regional media is great exposure for short track racing,” Elliott said. “We really need to get back to the grass roots of this sport and support our local communities and the family entertainment that these tracks offer. Terry (Roberts) and Scott (Pinner) at Lanier have done a great job with this GAS Radio Network and all of the coverage they’re working on. It’s going to help a lot of these drivers and sponsors get their names out there and maybe find some new opportunities.”
The hour-long Lanier Racing Live!, which kicks off Tuesday, March 31, at 7:30 pm, will broadcast live every week from Sonny’s BBQ on Hwy 53 (Munday Mill Rd) in Flowery Branch, Ga. Sonny’s BBQ, also the presenting sponsor of Lanier Racing Live!, encourages fans to head out for dinner and to catch the live broadcast.
Fans can listen live to the program from home by visiting the LNS website or Bill Elliott’s website and clicking on the “GAS Radio Network Listen Live” link.
Each broadcast will re-cap the previous Saturday night’s action and preview the upcoming week. The show will also feature driver interviews, track features and listener participation via email and live call-in segments.
