Bob Bahre Smacks down Kentucky and Waltrip
Funny stuff:
Among several allegations in a revised complaint filed by Kentucky Speedway, which was part of an anti-trust suit filed in July 2005, was that a $360 million cash offer the speedway made for NHIS was rebuffed by Bahre “because of the pressure exerted by ISC and NASCAR to exclude Kentucky Speedway from the market.”<div style=”clear:both;”
As chairman of NHIS the 80-year-old Bahre isn’t haven’t any part of it: “There’s absolutely no truth to it,” said Bahre, who did confirm that he turned down several bids by Kentucky Speedway to purchase his track.
But he saved his best for last and Darrell Waltrip:
He also lashed out at former driver Darrell Waltrip who he said “ran us into the ground” in the aftermath of the deaths of Adam Petty and Kenny Irwin in separate Turn 3 accidents while practicing at NHIS seven years ago.
“All he did for months was knock us, saying, ‘There’s something wrong with the track,’ when all he was trying to do was trying to get [Kentucky Speedway] the date,” Bahre said. “NASCAR never said a word to me about not selling the track. Never. It was never mentioned at all.”
“I said to Jerry Carroll, ‘I won’t sell to you because of that [expletive] Darrell Waltrip,’ “ Bahre said. “He’s part of them, you know? He ran us into the ground when those two kids got killed. That bothered the hell out of me just to lose those two kids, and he was shooting his mouth off, ‘There’s something wrong with that track.’
“While he was doing that, he was trying to get NASCAR to take a date out of here to give to Kentucky Speedway. I have no respect for Darrell Waltrip whatsoever. I think the day that Fox gets rid of him, they’re going to get their ratings up a little.”
OUCH… that’s gonna hurt.
