BuschWhackers are Whacked at Lowes
Those that decry the current state of the Busch starting field being populated with NEXTEL Cup interlopers must be feeling fairly giddy about now.
Not only didn’t Head Whacker Carl Edwards not clinch the Series’ championship Friday night but a virtual who’s who of Cup interlopers resided at the bottom of the running order when the night was over.
From the 25th spot southward there were no less than nine Cup regulars including Chase participants Kenseth, Johnson and Edwards all sitting like ducks in a row in 31st thru 33rd position.
Not a good day to be a BuschWhacker. Unless you were Jeff Burton who survived the “Whacker Carnage” for his fourth Busch win of the year.
”We had a really good car,” Burton said. ”It got better as the night went on. These guys (on the Richard Childress Racing crew) just kept making the car better all day. And, give them credit. They changed the engine, oil lines, everything (Thursday night), and the car was just great.”
And the engine didn’t blow sky high either, which has to be a bit of good news after last weeks spreading of RCR/DEI engine parts all over southern Alabama.
