Camping World East Lime Rock
NASCAR Camping World Series East point leader Matt Kobyluck will start on the pole for this afternoon’s Mohegan Sun 200 at Lime Rock Park.
Kobyluck, 38, of Uncasville, Conn., will lead the field to green after an afternoon thunderstorm prevented qualifying Friday afternoon. The 32-car field was then set as per the NASCAR rule book.
Earlier in practice, Kobyluck run lap times nearly a second quicker than the current series qualifying record of 53.591 seconds at the 1.530-mile road course. The record was established in 2001 by Bryan Wall.
Trevor Bayne, 17, of Knoxville, Tenn., will start along side Kobyluck for Saturday’s 1 p.m. start. Bayne enters the event second in series points, 57 behind Kobyluck. Austin Dillon of Welcome, N.C. starts third along side fourth place Jesus Hernandez of Fresno, Calif.
Completing the top-10 starters are Marc Davis of Mitchelville, Md., Ricky Carmichael of Clearwater, Fla., Brian Ickler of San Diego, Calif., Eddie MacDonald of Rowley, Mass., Jeffrey Earnhardt of Mooresville, N.C. and Jody Lavender of Hartsville, S.C.
