Carl Edwards Headed for Wembley Stadium
Carl Edwards will make his debut in this years Race of Champions to be held Dec. 14th at Wembley Stadium.
This year will be his first appearance in the end of season event and the first time he will compete in any event in Europe.
“It’s great to be able to represent the United States in England,” said Edwards. “I’ve never been to Europe and I expect it will be spectacular.
“To race with the top drivers in the world is the opportunity of a lifetime. The goal is to bring back a trophy and it should be a lot of fun, I can’t wait.”
Edwards will partner with Travis Pastrana for Team USA in the Nations’ Cup, with Pastrana returning to the event for the fourth consecutive year.
“It’s an honor to be selected to represent Team USA again,” he said. “I have a new teammate this year in Carl and I’m looking forward to improving what Jimmie and I were able to accomplish last year.
“Carl is extremely talented and brings a new perspective to the event, so we’re expecting big things this year.”
The RoC uses a variety of cars ranging from an event specific RoC machine to a big bore V8 Aston Martin to one of the most capable cars on the planet, an FIA spec Ford Focus RS WRC 07.
Edwards and Pastrana will attempt to unseat two-time RoC champ Mattias Ekström.
Ekström is a two-time DTM champion having won the title in 2004 and 2007 and will team up with fellow Swede and DTM driver Tom Kristensen for the RoC event.
