Clint Bowyer: Buddy Can Ya Spare a Dime?
NASCAR Nationwide Series Champion and Kansas native Clint Bowyer today took delivery of his Beechcraft Premier IA, the world’s fastest and most technologically advanced single-pilot business jet.
With a cruising speed greater than 520mph - 50mph faster than its nearest competitor - the Premier IA is the only light jet in the world that satisfies Bowyer’s need for speed. While in Wichita for the delivery, Bowyer toured the Hawker Beechcraft manufacturing plant and signed autographs for employees.
“As a NASCAR driver, I have a very demanding schedule that takes me from coast-to-coast on a regular basis,” Bowyer said. “My new Premier IA will allow me to operate more efficiently and effectively. I am proud to own an airplane made in my home state of Kansas. It was great to see many NASCAR fans at the factory today and I thank them for their work on this superior aircraft.”
MY TWO CENTS: (That was worth twenty bucks 6 months ago - ed) Well, it’s “nice” to know someone doesn’t need a bailout!
But I have to be honest, at a time when the entire sport is hurting - minus one Nationwide Series Champion obviously - this is akin to the Big Three CEO’s private-jetting into D.C. with hat-in-hand.
P.S. I certainly hope you left comped tickets at the Kansas Speedway’s Will-Call window for the many NASCAR fans at the factory. It is Christmas ya know, and a few free tickets tossed the way of the proletariat wouldn’t hurt.

“this is akin to the Big Three CEO’s [sic] private-jetting into D.C. with hat-in-hand.”
Well, it’s not, as GM and Ford are publicly-owned companies with jets owned by shareholders. Unlike the automakers’ executive officers who used airplanes and fuel to go to D.C. to ask for taxpayers’ money, Clint Bowyer didn’t ask anyone to pay for his personal transportation tool or fuel.
Actually Brian, it is, and you are in need of instruction as to the meaning and intent behind the use of “akin.”
Akin: “Having a similar quality or character; analogous.” (among other definitions)
Now that that’s straight, the three asshatted CEOs decided it was proper and a “good thing” to go begging for anyone’s cash with an ostentatious display of Jet-setter mentality. To say it was a PR disaster is an understatement.
As for Boyer, while not begging for cash, he knows full well the current state of the sport and decided (along with the plane manufacturer who sent the press release) it was a “good thing” to display his ever expanding wealth in these hard times.
Meanwhile other drivers, Greg Biffle for one, have sold off aircraft because of the economy and cost of fuel.
Got it now Brain? Dare I say both are “analogous” to each other as I’ve used them?
And BTW, considering you failed to take the time to fully comprehend this post I doubt you took the time to read my comment policy.

I wonder if Clint will be jet-pooling with the other drivers who recently decided it was silly for them to all be flying in separate jets to the same tracks every week.
Clint is certainly entitled to spend his millions any way he wants. Marie Antoinette was also entitled to eat cake to her heart’s content.
Maybe Clint should spend some of that money on a good PR guy.
Actually Doug I have a feeling Bowyer had little to do with the press release other than Beechcraft placing his quotes in their press release.
