Clint Bowyer’s List of Five
Once upon a time, before Clint Bowyer hit paydirt as a well paid driver (relative to flippin’ burgers and dipping fries) for Richard Childress Racing, he had dreams of owning a collection of Hot Rods and Muscle Cars.
Going into his second year in the NEXTEL Cup Series he hasn’t reached the financial status of Jeff Gordon or Dale Jr. but that hasn’t stopped him from maintaining his dream line-up of cars. Below is his top five choices and note the only one that has become reality if the first one listed:
1. ‘49 Mercury. When I got a contract and got some money, I’d always wanted a ‘49 Mercury. That was the first thing I bought.
2. ‘69 Camaro. They were really neat. I especially like that body style.
3. ‘69 Roadrunner. I know it’s a darn Dodge, but I’ve always wanted a ‘69 Roadrunner with a Hemi. It’s a very expensive car now.
4. ‘59 El Camino. One of my all-time favorites.
5. ‘59 Cadillac. Another favorite of mine.
All very desirable vehicles, I admit and I wouldn’t turn any of them down if offered. But… for my money I’d swap out the Caddy for a ‘32 Ford 5-window and the El Camino for a ‘58 Chevy Impala with the stock 348 c.i. V8.
But that’s just me.
