Could this be the Future of any Mayfield Lawsuit?
A federal judge has dismissed most of the claims by Minnesota Vikings defensive tackles Kevin Williams and Pat Williams over their positive 2008 doping test for a banned diuretic.
US District Judge Paul Magnuson also threw out a lawsuit brought by the NFL Players Association on behalf of the duo and three New Orleans Saints players.
Magnuson did send two of the claims by the players to a state court for consideration, upholding the contention of the NFL that players bear ultimate responsibility for what chemicals are found in their own bodies.
The players and the union had argued that NFL officials knew the supplement StarCaps contained a banned substance as far back as 2006 but took no steps to notify players.
Any good NASCAR lawyer worth his mega-bucks retainer fees will surely cite this ruling in any future lawsuit filed on behalf of Jeremy Mayfield.
