Daytona: Firecracker No - Last Lap Fireworks Yes!
Excuse me while I rub my eyes…
I still don’t believe it. And I used all the Visine in the house.
More later…
After a few hours of reflection… yes it was a wild finish that will set tongues wagging for the coming week. Was Busch, or was he not in the lead as loop data claims when the yellow came out?
That will be the debate this week, but a debate with no tangible evidence to support either side. Without NASCAR releasing both the data combined with precise video and location of the loop data points on the track the debate will be drawn on emotion and not fact.
So, save the vocal cords and blog space… and can it will ya?!
NOTABLES: DEI…, with Menard in the lead pack all day, Junior finishing in the top ten and Truex Jr. soldering home a back-up car to 17th they were my team of the day.
But the most notable DEI moment came before the green flag Saturday night after the #1 of Truex was confiscated for having a roof-line too low. Martin’s response to the situation doesn’t bode well for the team. After his car failed inspection, Truex didn’t sound like a driver who wants to return.
“Somebody made a big mistake,” he Truex Jr. “That shouldn’t happen at this level.”
The quotes reminds me of Juniors thoughts last year as he remarked about DEI not caring enough, or were too cheap, to purchase a 7-post shaker and had to use the one at his own JR Motorsports garage.
MeThinks the Smoke/Truex combo’s possibilities just got a bit more likely.
Speaking of Smoke, both he and Greg Biffle are within 10 points of dropping out of the top 12. Not of their own doing of course, Smoke battled a bug, turned the #20 over to J.J. Yeley but he and Biffle were both caught-up in the final lap carnage dropping them down the order.
And… is Travis Kvapil the best unsponsored driver out there? Yes he only finished 30th, but spent much of the day in the top 15. If someone doesn’t purchase a multi-million dollar “wrap” for that car there are fools.
More later…. again.

I have been watching Tony’s long term aspect’s and various over lays with different driver’s. Guess it’s time for me to do a comparison chart with Truex Jr. too.
As of right now, Smoke and Newman’s charts are flowing quite well into the future.
Hmmm.
Deep thought’s you have provoked.
I’m getting better Clance’, I usually provoke a kick in my posterior.
