Diva Spotting at Indy

Stop the presses! Copy Boy!

Copyyyyyyyy Booooooy! Rewrite that headline, make it read Mrs. Hospenthal spotted jogging in the infield of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway!

(There’s no word whether she was jogging while clutching a Hostess Twinkie.)<div style=”clear:both;”

Remember when May 1st automatically conjured up thoughts of the Indy 500? Glasses of milk and Andy Granatelli weeping in victory lane? But I digress.

Meanwhile in less important news: IMS and ESPN officials have announced the 500 will be broadcast in High-Def this year. (better to see the Racing Divas “equipment” I suppose) On the other hand ESPN, ditching past practice, won’t host SportsCenter from Indy this year during practice weeks.

All snark aside, props go to Milka “Milkalicious” Duno who turned 74 laps Monday and has completed 153 laps this month, most of any driver to date. During the Rookie Orientation Program she had a top speed of 214.128 mph. Regardless of the final outcome this month Duno is doing exactly what she needs to do, log track time.

Say what you will about Michael Andretti’s return to the Indy spotlight, and many have been less than complimentary, Andretti needed just seven laps to hit 220 mph Sunday.

  1. Gender has nothing to do with this, IMHO Milka will be a danger to herself & others. She is less prepared to start this event than Paul Dana was to start his IRL season. I find it incredible that if you have the will & the $’s you can roll up to Indy as a guest driver! Think about it, 33 land based missiles lapping at 220 mph in race conditions, it’s a recipe for disaster if the driver is not qualified. How TG allows driver standards to drop, over “driver safety” is beyond me.

  2. Two things:
1.) When you mention DANICA PATRICK JOGGING, there MUST be a PICTURE!
and 2.) Milka Duno looks like Michael Jackson circa 2004. It had to be said.
