NASCAR on Thursday suspended crew chief Glenn Darrow indefinitely for violating its substance abuse policy.

Darrow, crew chief for Tony Raines’ Nextel Cup car, was tested for banned substances last Saturday at Talladega Superspeedway. The results were positive, leading to an automatic suspension.

NASCAR did not identify the substance and several series officials did not immediately return phone messages left Thursday.

Given the method NASCAR administers it’s drug tests, a test must be based on “reasonable suspicion,” either someone dropped dime on this mental midget or he was wondering around Talladega in some kind of zombie-like state.

The method of detection isn’t important, he’s gone, history, Ka-put! And good riddence.

UPDATE: Here are more dumb asses, of the media type. WATE, a news station out of Knoxville Tenn. publishes the same AP story linked and quoted above. Their headline reads: “NASCAR suspends driver after failing drug test.”

Wonder what drug their copy desk is on?
