Earnhardt Grandson in Action Tonight
Jeffrey Earnhardt, the 17-year-old grandson of the late Dale Earnhardt, the son of Kerry Earnhardt and nephew of Dale Earnhardt Jr., will race tonight at Elko Speedway as part of the first Grand National Combination race, which brings together the NASCAR Busch East and West Series.
Jeffrey races for Dale Earnhardt Inc. (DEI) in conjunction with Andy Santerre Motorsports. He finished sixth in his East Series debut last week at Greenville-Pickens Speedway in South Carolina, where his great-grandfather, Ralph Earnhardt, was a track champion.
Other development drivers entered are Joey Logano (Joe Gibbs Racing), Sean Caisse (Andy Santerre Motorsports) and Chase Austin (RWI).
This event is the first of two back-to-back combination races for the NASCAR Grand National Division, which is comprised of the West Series and the Busch East Series. After this race, the division heads to Iowa Speedway in Newton, Iowa for Sunday’s Featherlite Coaches 200.
This weekend marks the first time for the West Series and Busch East Series to compete in the same event for championship points. Top competitors from each series, meanwhile, have faced off in post-season action for the past four years in the prestigious NASCAR Toyota All-Star Showdown.
