Edwards, an Ex-Teammate is Comin’ to Get-cha

Carl Edwards has run away from the Busch Series field faster than a hack shyster/judge can sue a Korean dry cleaners for $65 million dollars.

That is to say competition has been of no practical importance, irrelevant, just as it was last year as Kevin Harvick decimated the series points standings.

That’s about to change if only for a single event. Mark Martin is set to make his debut at the wheel of a Hendrick Motorsports car this Friday in the Busch Series race at Darlington Raceway.<div style=”clear:both;”

Call it a Dream Team if you will, a team cobbled together with parts from the hottest bunch in NASCAR at the moment, a driver with most wins in the history of NASCAR’s second division, driving the #5 Baby Busch Autoguard/hendrickcars.com Chevy ride and attempting to get his 48th victory in the series at a track where he has won a record eight times, achieving the same number of pole positions.

“The thrill for me is to be able to drive for Rick Hendrick, and to be able to say that I did that before my career ends as a driver is really special,” Martin said.

“To have them (Hendrick Motorsports) with their enthusiasm and a chance to work with more really brilliant people that I can maybe learn something from, this is the greatest time in my life.”

Carl, remember them Roush teammate days? Well, keep them filed away because your ex-teammate and the newly assembled Dream Team are comin’ to get-cha!

(As he saunters up to the window: “50 buck on #5 please.”)
