Unsurprising !
In the cards, enevitable, destined, no matter how you describe DEI signing Tony Eury Jr. to a new long term contract it is the most “non-newsworthy” note of the day.
It only gives more proof that both Jr’s will be together again and why Michael Waltrip said adios.
The moniker for the “most newsworthy” item of the day is Tony Stewart loses a race, at his own track!
The long-awaited clash between the EFI-NRA Sprint Invaders and the NEXTEL Cup open-wheel graduates finally took center stage at Eldora Speedway. Track owner, Tony Stewart, Dave Blaney and Kasey Kahne came to race in front of a tremendous crowd on a perfect summer night.Fans didn’t have to wait long to see if the stars of NASCAR could hold their own against the thirty-six other Sprint Invader teams. Blaney set the fast time of 14.011 seconds in a car he had never seen before Wednesday. Darren Long showed he had the setup and motor to be a factor with a second-quick time of 14.104 seconds. Tim Hunter (14.146 sec.), Tony Stewart (14.152 sec.), and Kent Wolters (14.291 sec.) rounded out the top five. Kahne wasn’t far behind at 14.375 seconds for eighth fastest.
But alas it wasn’t to be Tony rolled off to a large lead in his Danny Lasoski prepared Sprinter only to have a spindle break on lap 9. The resulting spin collected Blaney and Tim Hunter. Darren Long took the win followed by Kasey Kahne.(H/T for this story goes to I Like Racing, who if you haven’t noticed is one blog that is featured in my new “What Blogs are Sayin’” feature)
