F1 Honda to get New Years “Bailout?”

F1 Honda to get New Years

Honda F1 CEO Nick Fry has said he and team principal Ross Brawn will reveal details of discussions with potential buyers in the New Year.

Fry has confirmed “a high level of interest” in taking over the Brackley-based team, who were put up for sale after Honda announced they were withdrawing from Formula One a fortnight ago.

“We have had a high level of interest in the team since Honda Motor Co. announced their withdrawal from Formula One,” Fry told autosport.com.

“Since that time, Ross and I have been engaged in ongoing discussions with several serious potential new owners who have expressed an interest in purchasing the team.”

Despite the crisis, the team have not stopped work on developing next season’s car in the hope that they will remain involved in F1.

Fry added: “Work on the development and build of our 2009 car continues during the next few weeks to ensure our objective of being on the grid at Melbourne at the end of March will be achieved.”
