FIA, FOTA Talks in the Sand Trap
As agreed at the meeting of 11 June, FIA financial experts met yesterday with financial experts from FOTA. Unfortunately, the FOTA representatives announced that they had no mandate to discuss the FIA’s 2010 financial regulations. Indeed, they were not prepared to discuss regulation at all.
As a result, the meeting could not achieve its purpose of comparing the FIA’s rules with the FOTA proposals with a view to finding a common position.
In default of a proper dialogue, the FOTA financial proposals were discussed but it became clear that these would not be capable of limiting the expenditure of a team which had the resources to outspend its competitors. Another financial arms race would then be inevitable.
The FIA Financial Regulations therefore remain as published.
Meanwhile, FOTA adds more crap to the manure pile.
FOTA have written to the FIA complaining about Max “The Littlest Perv” Mosley’s “eyes and ears” during events by requesting a separation roles for permanent chairman of stewards Alan Donnelly roles.
Specifically FOTA wrote to the FIA complaining of an alleged conflict of interest which is pretty funny all things considered. It takes a set of cajones the size of Jupiter to whine about conflicts of interest, the entire sport of a conflict of interest.

Blah, blah, blah……Friday the 19th is the day of truth, will FOTA follow through with their threat. If they dont they will be ridiculed as proffessional bluffers.Something tells me they will fold & then spend the rest of the year bitching about it.
The breakaway series is a myth, the only viable protest would be leave F1. I can, however, invisage a senario where one auto will withdraw & then be followed by another. Renault & Toyota?
“Peace in our time.”

Neville Chamberlain might have bought Der Fuhrer’s promises in 1938, but how long will this proposed peace last?? Sounds like FOTA will gain most of what they want, and can now focus on not allowing Fuhrer Mosley to keep from getting re-elected this fall.
I read that the same way, Max blinked.
I bet we see a lot of these at Silverstone.
Hmmm, the teams get a reprieve for 2010 & Max gets what he wants for 2011? Nah this is F1, somebody has to win & the other lose. Your right, a massive campaign to undermine Max will now be launched. I’m still convinced they will need to put a stake through his heart to get him out of office.
BTW, is there anything funnier than the FIA’s “policed with ’self-reporting of compliance using a reputable auditor’”.
Oh God! The Enron jokes will be flowing.
My final read on the situation; just wait for Ferrari to snake their way into most favored status with the FIA. FOTA members should know Ferrariās presence is no different to the western powers alliance with Stalin.
Right on Mark! Especially because it’s the last year for Silverstone to boot.
Read a great posting on Pitpass relative to spending. All of the teams are forced to reduce spending, how about the commercial rights holder? FOM keep draining millions from the sport, why can’t they restructure debt, reorganize, whatever it takes, to reduce costs of running the series?
Reducing spending by teams due to the economy is smoke and mirror cover for the fact that FOM cannot pay the teams any more than they currently receive, maybe even less.
