FIA: Justice Served

FIA: Justice Served

Brawn GP, Toyota and Williams are in possession of “Confused Diffusers” no more.

The FIA’s International Court of Appeal has deviated from its normal ham-handed approach and ruled double-decker diffuser designs used in the first two championship events as legal.

So much for Ferrari, Red Bull, Renault and BMW Sauber being so adamant in their being illegal.

It took overnight deliberations by the Kangaroo Court but for once they were less Kangaooish than usual and got this one right.

Hear that sound?

It’s the cacophony of voice messages, cell ring tones, garage doors opening, and doors slamming in said garages parking lots as Ferrari, Red Bull, Renault and BMW Sauber scramble to design, install and run test laps (sorry can’t do that any longer) their own version of double-decker diffusers.

There’s one other sound you may hear off in the distance.

That’s Sir Richard’s 200EX Rolls-Royce as it fires on all 12 cylinders as the Virgin Group owner is on his way to Brawn GP’s Brackley Headquarters to shake the hand of one Ross Brawn.

  1. “….on his way to Brawn GP’s Brackley Headquarters to shake the hand of one Ross Brawn.”

And if he has half a brain behind that toothy grin his hand will be holding a large sponsorship check for the rest of this year and all of next.

Personally I thing the Court of Appeal should have insisted on apologies to Ross from Ferrari’s lawyer and Big mouth Flavio for their nasty comments.

  2. Ferrari’s lawyer did make his presence well known didn’t he?

To the point of labeling himself an arsehole.

  3. Great, now that’s over we can get down to racing.

3 teams saw the potential of the double decker diffuser (DDD) & built it…..really quite simple.

The other shmucks missed the boat & tried to have it banned, blah blah blah, for once the FIA got it right. Although the fact that it favors two small independents & a unsuccessful manufacturer is not lost on this poster.

They will all have a DDD fitted in no time & it will be interesting to see who closes the gap to Brawn. I’m still convinced the Red Bull is the second best car out there & it has no DDD.
