FIA Tosses a Bone Named “Irony”
Indianapolis Motor Speedway has been the site of many historic races during it’s long history. Certainly the majority of them have occurred at the annual spring ritual the Indianapolis 500, but the Formula One World Championship has also played a role in offering memorable events.
After a nine year absence Tony George begged, borrowed, stole and finally sold his soul to The Devil and Formula One returned to central Indiana in 2000.
The largest Formula One crowd ever, estimated at 250,000+, watched as Michael Schumacher won 2000 event and assumed the Drivers championship lead from Mika H


Please answer this question: Why in heavens name would that smirking excuse of a racing “executive” Tony George show up to accept this slap in the face award? He truly is an idiot.
And why oh why hasn’t the the boy blunder of motor sport not taken the vacated F1 slot and brought an IRL road course event to the schedule?? He raises the term jerky boy to a new level of ineptitude!
As soon as I read this at Autosport i laughed out loud at the irony.However, as George has pointed out, I assumed that TG would say thanks but no thanks. What an IDIOT!
I am also surprised that Tony George accepted the “Thanks for trying” award.
Along with Mario’s gold medal does it seem that the FIA is trying to appease the Formula One fans in America?
