Fight ON!!

No not the Kenseth/Gordon dust up, it hardly rates a mention in my book. Think about it, the contact was so slight there was no damage to either car, not even a scratch. (David Poole puts the incident in perspective during other times and other sports)

While I’m on the subject, the fans tossing bottles and cans, if positively identified, should be banned for life from every NASCAR sanctioned event, big, small, local and national. The incident reminds me of a headline that claimed Chicagoland was a hard sell for NASCAR. Damn sure couldn’t claim that by looking at the full seats or the “passion” displayed by a few nutjobs

I’m actually speaking of this dust up:

A crew member for a NASCAR Busch Series team was arrested Saturday morning at Charlotte-Douglas International Airport after an alleged confrontation with a crew member from another team. Gregg Edward Pasi, 43, who served as jackman for Team Rensi Motorsports No. 35 team, was charged with simple assault and battery, a misdemeanor offense. He was released on $1,000 secured bond. According to officer David Strickland of the airport police, city police were called to the Wilson Air Center - the charter section of Douglas airport to investigate “some type of disturbance.”

Pasi was arrested for allegedly punching Shannon Myers, whom Strickland said had a cut on his head. Myers is a tire changer for Robert Yates Racing’s No. 90 team. Pasi was scheduled to appear in Mecklenburg County District Court on Monday. A spokesman for Team Rensi Motorsports said Pasi was a contract, weekend-only employee with the team and was immediately fired.

Ya know, the Yates bunch just can’t stay out of the news. Maybe the folks over there need to take a tip from Earl and attempt to right all the wrongs, real or imagined, they have committed in the past.

It wouldn’t hurt.
