First Bud Shootout Speeds are Posted
For those that thought the practice speeds attained at LVMS, Fontana and Daytona over the last month were an aberration, given the possibility of sandbagging and all, think again.
The first official speeds for the Bud Shootout show five Toyotas, 3 Chevys and only the two Fords of Carl Edwards and David Gilliland in the top ten.
That’s pretty much inline with the equipment onboard. The Toyotas and Chevys all sport the latest and greatest residing in their engine bays.
The Fords, not so much.

Toyota will take the pole for the 500. Maybe Vickers, maybe Waltrip (wouldn’t that be ironic?).
In fact, given the engine improvements for Toyota and the bizarre nature of qualifying it wouldn’t surprise me if Toyota won a lot of poles this year.

IT wouldn’t surprise me either, many of the crew chiefs and team owners have commented the Toyota engine is superior to anyone else’s engines.
Look at the front of the ARCA 200 grid, three of the top four are Toyotas.
I, too, am not very surprised by the speeds that the Toyotas have been posting. I’m interested to see how they’re going to hold up in race trim, though.

With Smoke having a Toyota engine do any of you really think it will be Waltrip taking a Toyota pole? Where there’s Smoke there’s fire, I’ll pick Stewart over Waltrip anytime.
