Franchitti Bumps Bryan Clauson
Dario Franchitti will return to NASCAR on Saturday in the Nationwide Series race at Chicago.
Franchitti, whose Sprint Cup team was shut down last week by co-owner Chip Ganassi, is included on the Nationwide Series race entry list for the #40 Fastenal Dodge on NASCAR’s media web site. The initial entry list posted on the site had Bryan Clauson as the driver.
Franchitti and Clauson have shared time this season in Ganassi’s Nationwide car.

Ya know, it’s probably not the worst thing in the world that Dario competes in the Nationwide Series the rest of the year. The guy’s obviously got potential, so maybe a good go of it in the NNS will lead to a sponsorship deal that will get him back in the Cup Series next season.
I agree Tim, but at the same time it screws over a kid with more long-term potential.
The way I see it, Clauson has proved him self far more in the Busch car than Franchitti. Deserves the ride… Chip Ganassi doesn’t seem to have his act togther at the NASCAR level anyway…
Franchitti is a proven driver in the Indy Car. Clauson has yet to show consistency in his Busch car but has showed promise. I agree that Ganassi should be looking at the long term gains because Clauson will find a ride some place else… Ganassi really needs to focus on getting a great race team together and stop with all the driver swapping…
