Future NASCAR HoF Creates Land Boom

Future NASCAR HoF Creates Land Boom

HoF PinBig changes are coming for the interchange by the future and under-construction NASCAR Hall of Fame.

State crews are redoing the ramps to make it easier for drivers to get to the hall and so that Charlotte has an attractive gateway to uptown.

When they finish, they plan to turn the land near the interchange over to the city. The city plans to sell the land and it isn’t wasting time. Eyewitness News found out the city already has three parcels under contract.

The city thought it could get $30 million for the land. It turns out developers are willing to spend $56 million. The developers have not made their plans public yet. The Hall of Fame and the city will split the money.

Charlotte Real Estate division manager Eric Johnson said, “Charlotte is pretty hot. People have money to spend and they have to find a place to put it. Charlotte is one of those markets.”

  1. I’m really looking forward to the creation of the NASCAR Hall of Fame. I think the location in Charlotte pretty much guarantees the All-Star Race remaining at Lowe’s as well.

  2. Probably right Tim. although I’m one of “those” that have advocated having the All-Star event rotate thru various tracks every couple years.

  3. I really love the NASCAR-series, although here in Germany it isn´t so commen. I´d appreciated when they´d drive on a German track (Nürburgring or Hockenheim e.g.) as the Formula 1 is taking place in Indianapolis, too. Nice blog! Greetz from Germany

  4. Don’t get me wrong, Marc … I said I’m excited for them to officially unload with the NASCAR Hall of Fame. I’m actually with you on your theory about a rotating All-Star event. I’d much rather see them mix it up a bit.
