GEM, Elliot Sadler - We are a Family
Elliott Sadler will be back behind the wheel of the No. 19 Dodge for the upcoming NASCAR Sprint Cup season, Gillett Evernham Motorsports announced Friday.
For the last week reports had Sadler being replaced by AJ Allmendinger, a move that initiated a breach of contract lawsuit by Sadler who had signed a contract extension with GEM early last year.
So much for “reports.”
“We are a family. Sometimes in a family you have differences. We have resolved all differences. We are moving on and excited about heading to Daytona,” said Tom Reddin, GEM CEO.
“I want to drive. I’m a racer and that’s what I do. We are all on the same page now and I think you will see that show on the track,” commented Sadler.
Um, ok.
How is that going to work when the employer obviously wanted a change and the “page” Sadler has been working from has resulted in no wins and points finishes in the mid-twenties?
We haven’t heard the last of this mess.

A.J. has an 8 race ‘preview’ and ESad has 8 races to prove he is worth the ‘high salary’ that Robert Yates said he took when he went to GEM.
and how will ESad feel if GEM gives the 19’s owner points to the 10. (it just might happen, and is not a bad business move) After all, GEM would still be honoring his ‘contract’, and letting continue to run mid pack in the 19.

I hadn’t thought of the points switch angle, good call, if I were GEM I’d make the switch. But, I’m a vindictive SOB.
What I find HI-larious is Sadler running to the lawyers over a “broken” contract, if memory serves he’s broken at least one if not two of them himself.
Sadler, call your office, there’s a “Pot” on line one calling you a “black kettle.”
my moot point, with mergers and shut downs, the 10 should be locked in the top 35. but until i hear GEM playing ‘we are family’ before races, i’m not buying the spin.
and you know me, i have not yet begun to expose this stuff…….yet!
