Full Throttle

Some would say there’s still all to play for in NASCAR’s Chase to the Championship.

Technically that’s true, at least for the top three, after that is a long line of unbuttered and burnt toast.

But at the top of that line sits last nights winner Jeff Gordon who is well on his way to capturing his fifth Cup Championship. (And the Dale Sr. fans are readying their slings and arrows)

Jeff Gordon’s edge-of-the-couch win was punctuated by an engine sputtering on fumes after fending off a flock of challengers on two late-race restarts.

The victory was Gordon’s sixth of the season, second in six days and it extended his points lead over Jimmie Johnson to 68.
