GP Canada Results

schumi.bmpMichael Schumacher lauded a ‘fabulous’ win in Canada which saw him record a string of sevens - his seventh win of the season, his seventh win in Canada, and his seventy-seventh career victory.

“It sort of worked out as planned, and our competitors had some problems what helped the situation,” Michael said in reference particularly to the two Renaults which retired from the race.

“We had a strong car for the race and the strategy worked out fantastic,” added the reigning champion who ran a two-stop strategy while Ferrari’s rivals all went for three-stops.

“My teammate Rubens pushed me very hard he was very strong, in the second stint particular but we managed it and it’s fabulous,” he concluded.

Ralf happy with second

Ralf Schumacher was happy with second place in the Canadian Grand Prix despite starting the race from pole position.

“It was clearly better than last race,” Ralf said. we’re now going to improve our package to start to win races again.” Ralf’s team mate Montoya finished the race fifth in one of the BMW WilliamsF1 team’s better results of the season.

PlanetF1 Race Report:

Michael Schumacher claimed his seventh victory in Canada on Sunday, once again writing his name into the history books as the only man to have won a single event seven times.
Thanks to Ferrari’s brilliant strategist Ross Brawn, Michael, who started the race in sixth place on the grid, climbed the order, not on the track but during the pit stops.

Opting for a two-stop strategy paid off for the German who got the jump on his final target, his brother Ralf, during his second and last stop. From there it was business as usual as Michael cruised to his seventh Canadian victory, and his seventh of the season.

Ralf had to settle for second place, losing out to Michael for the second successive season. However, it was almost third for the Williams driver who had to hold Rubens Barrichello at bay in the final ten laps of the race. The Ferrari driver, though, wasn’t able to get close enough to Ralf, and crossed the line in third place.

  1. The King IS NOT dead, long live the King! Your qualifying prognostication may have been wrong (as we all were), but Ferrari and Schumacher continue to amaze. As the competition close in, they manage to come up with a winning strategy, every time. Excusing Monaco as the abberation it was. Nobody’s perfect!

  2. It’s just another day at the Ferrari office George.

One thing of note is the performance of Glock. His first race out of the box and he out performes Heidfeld. Very impressive.
