Green Flag Flies Again

Blog Book

It wasn’t enough I’ve had to fight my way through a recalcitrant internet connection the last 48 hours. (connect for 2 minutes - disconnect for 10 then reconnect) On top of that frustration is a head that feels like it’s been on the receiving end of a Jimmy Spencer “window punch” and a nose that has run faster than a unrestricted Rusty Wallace Dodge at Talladega. (snifffffffff….!)

My connection seems to be at, or nearly at, it’s normal operating level. (Read mediocre) The head hasn’t exploded as yet and the nose is still a nose just a bit more Rudolph like.

One of the first things that caught my eye once back online was a post by Diecast Dude. He had occasion to pass through Borders (the bookstore not on the way to a Busch race) and spied a book by Peter Kuhne and Adrienne Crew, Blogosphere : Best of Blogs. Being curious he thumbed through when his eyes were drawn to page 112. Top blog listed was his very own Mostly NASCAR Blah, Blah Blog. Top dog of the NASCAR blogs, can’t beat that with a tire iron. Congrats Dude!

The most surprising thing, out of the three blogs listed, was Full Throttle and it’s Half-Vast Staff of one. So You-whoooo to me! What it means I haven’t a clue. And unless the book hits the NYT best seller list it may mean next to nothing.

But that’s A-Ok with me. For someone that learned sentence structure on the hard streets of Detroit and punctuation in the alleys behind those same hard streets I feel honored, and humbled. And it goes without saying many thanks to Peter Kuhne and Adrienne Crew who felt Full Throttle was worthy of inclusion to their fine work.

Now if I may, let me pimp Dude’s book, Restrictor Plate THIS!: An Unapologetic Look At Stock Car Racing tha is available at Amazon.

  1. great job! it’s nice to get a bit of recognition here and there.

  2. Congratulations Marc. Check out what I wrote about you at Diecast Dude’s blog. It is posted under the entry about his, and yours, mention in the book. Take care and keep up with the great work on this site. It’s worth the read everyday.

  3. That is pretty awesome. I will have to check for that next time I’m at the bookstore.

On a semi-unrelated note, have you heard about this lawsuit against NASCAR? It’s had me steamed since I first heard about it. Details here.

It’s complete idiocy. This company that owns a track and works with NASCAR is now also suing NASCAR because they want a Nextel Cup race on their track. Which means they’d have to take one away from someone else. This is like, I want the Oscars to be Richmond instead of LA

  4. Thanks one and all for sending your regards over the “Throttle” gaining some recognition. But in the end I just hang out here and do what I do best. Waste time and rant and rave with a passion on a sport I love.

NSP, yes I have heard about the Kentucky lawsuit and have posted about it here, here and here, plus another couple I’m too lazy at the moment to look up.

However there is something you should note about the site you have linked to (Unite Here Org).

Due to various things I have not posted anything about it but that site and the people behind it are nothing but a sham and are shilling union membership over any concern over the Kentucky lawsuit.

Jeff Meyer at FrontStretch has all the ugly details.

My advice, stay away from both Unite Here and their petitions.

  5. Well the book that you are talking about I was planning to read that. Once I do that I will write bacjk a review and tell you that how I felt!

  6. While I appreciate your concern and look forward to your book review, comment rules around here dictate I remove the url of a commercial and or unrelated blood presure site you left behind.

    Sorry.
