Hamlin Hammers Them at Pocono
Hamlin, a rookie and the pole sitter. He goes from first to 40th and back to first to win on a track Hamlin has never run before. Not much else to say other than he was the man to beat and Hamlin wasn’t. A well deserved win.
The other big winner was Tony Stewart who kept his drive for another Championship alive fighting through injury to finish 3rd. Also added to the “plus column” is Brian Vickers who had a fine showing after a week of turmoil and announcing he was parting company with Hendrick. Wouldn’t it be ironic if Vickers had a win or two the remainder of the year?
Obviously the biggest loser on the day was Casey Mears after crashing out on the first lap. Does anyone besides me note the similarity between Mears and Dale Jarrett? Announce you’re leaving a team and quickly followed by stuffing your car into the wall on the first lap of the first race afterwards. Talk about deja vu all over again.
And BTW, Mears now joins Ryan Newman and Jeremy Mayfield in Full Throttle’s official “Chase Death Count”
