Hey, Have You Seen My Sidebar?

posted in Blog Stuff |

For those that view Full Throttle via IE 6 (and why to hell are you?) may have noticed the sidebar is displayed at the bottom of the page.

If any of you have a clue how long this has been the case drop me a line. Between using FF or Flock as my Browser of choice I didn’t notice the problem until Sunday.

And damned if I know what’s causing it. I checked all the usual suspects but haven’t solved it as yet. Did anyone ever tell you code SUCKS… well it does!

Anyway hang in there it may be repaired in the next couple of days… maybe!

Why not let us know what you think by adding your own comment! Your opinion is as valid as anyone elses. (Except mine, it takes precedence over all!)

~raises hand~ I know what’s doing it! Happens to mine quite frequently. I don’t usually check mine in IE so i’m left to wonder how long it’s been that way… There is something in your sidebar that is too wide by IE’s standards and is shoving the bar to the bottom. If you don’t know right off what it is, comment out one thing at a time until it rights itself. You have no idea how long it took me to tweak the 3 column layout I have to work correctly in IE. God, I hate that browser.

Oh - and occasionally - something too wide in the main body of your layout will do it.

Ah, Internet Explorer how I love thee! Er, not! I have had this problem in the past and I believe it is the way IE reads your CSS file.

I find the easiest way to solve the issue is to shrink the content width down by 1px at a time until it displays correctly. Alternatively, shrink the width of the sidebar in a similar faashion. Or you could try making the margins less, but that tends to make everything look a bit too close to each other.

Your third option is to simply not worry about it. It is only IE after all!

Thanks Oliver and Tina Renee, but as I said I’ve checked all the usual suspects including too wide content in the sidebar and the text section with obviously no solution as yet.

I checked a plugin I added (Expandable Comments) but that wasn’t it either.

So who the hell knows, it may solve itself if the cause scrolls off the main page.
