…the winners are…

When Chevy returns the Chevy Impala SS brand to the track at Bristol in March it will showcase more than an SS logo and a new set of CoT clothes. NASCAR has approved GM Racing’s new V-8 that was specifically designed for NASCAR competition. The new powerplant - designated R07 - has been approved by NASCAR for competition. Chevy teams are expected to begin the transition to the new R07 in March presumably Bristol. (it’s unknown at this time whether the R07 will utilize 110 octane unleaded or Jet fuel)

Mark Martin ( you know, that allegedly retired guy) announced on Wednesday he will drive three Busch Series races in a Hendrick Motorsports Chevy. That’s in addition to 22 Nextel Cup events in the # 01 Ginn Racing Chevy, two Busch races in a Roush Ford and six NCTS events he will drive in a Wood Brothers Ford.

The Half-Vast Staff™ of Full Throttle have not been able to confirm rumors Martin will also run 5 events for the Partridge & and a Pear Tree Racing Team.

Marcos Ambrose ready for Daytona debut. The two-time V8 Supercars champion won a promotion to the Busch series with some impressive runs in the NCTS last year and is my pick for 2007 Busch Series Rookie of the Year. (you heard it here first)

Denver is the new… New York. But we knew that a long time ago.

Yard-Man announced a sponsorship deal that makes Yard-Man the Official Lawn Mower of NASCAR. The three year agreement will begin this weekend starting at DIS for the Daytona 500. The DIS garages are running amok with rumors the five suspended crew chiefs will have free use of Yard-Man mowers during their “vacation.” Reportedly it’s the first step of a “12 Step Program” to rehabilitate the five.
