Jimmie Johnson: A Happy Coincidence?
Current Sprint Cup champion Jimmie Johnson has never driven in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.
That will remain true fact until the Aug. 20 Truck Series race at Bristol when he will jump into new team owner Randy Moss’s #81 Chevrolet.
“As for the trucks, I am really looking forward to that. I have never run a truck race so it should be fun. Heck, my brother Jarit has run more than me, but it’s going to be a good time.”
The happy coincidence?
The Moss entry is sponsored by Kobalt Tools. The company, by various accounts, is the leading candidate to assume NCTS sponsorship for the 2009 season.

and Kobalt Tools is a main player at Lowes aren’t they?
It sure looks like it.
So should this lead us to believe Moss will be getting some Hendrick assistance aside from the driver for this race? Not sure if Hendrick fields a truck anymore.
I don’t think Hendrick fields a truck entry, but that’s not necessarily to say that there isn’t still some assistance to be garnered from HMS. This is pretty much what we originally expected for Moss Motorsports anyway, though, isn’t it?
I didn’t know there was an HMS connection when he made the initial announcement.
