“Junior Nation” Turns Blue
DEI fans can’t be too pleased about now.
Their main squeeze Dale Jr. turned a lap a half a second behind Clint Bowyer’s leading time during the first NNS practice at DIS today. The time was good for 24th place.
Junior’s troubles were minor when compared to those of teammate Martin Truex Jr.
NASCAR seized his car after it failed inspection before practice. NASCAR officials said that the roof of the #1 Bass Pro Shops Chevy did not match the templates. The team will bring out a backup car and be able to use it provided it passes inspection. (It’ll be a “fine day” come Tuesday for the team - ed.)
Kurt Busch, who posted the fastest speed in the first Sprint Cup practice at 189.633 mph, hit the wall during the first practice session and damaged the right side of his #2 Dodge, forcing the team to go to a backup car.
