Just for the Record - NASCAR’s Rulebook

posted in Commentary, NASCAR |

More than anything else this post is for a historical record, something to point to at a later date.

The spin-miesters, conspiracy theorists and just plain lunatics all whine about NASCAR’s use and or misuse of it’s rulebook. The Half-Vast Staff

I’ve got one also Robert. It still lists mandatory use of Pure Oil products and 8 inch tires so you know how old it is.

Oh… and if you believe the 75 mil figure I’ve got a brand new rulebook to sell you. Really.

Holding the rule book close to the vest and writing it in pencil or on an Etch-A-Sketch is a long-time NASCAR tradition - one of the true traditions still left. But with the ease of publishing on the web today - including anonymity - I’m curious why no one has bothered to break that traditional “code” and upload it anyway.

Good point TMC, I wondered the same as I wrote this. With 50,000 copies printed, allegedly, it’s amazing someone hasn’t tossed a copy online.

So, where did you manage to get one, even if it is old? I still believe that if they made at least some of them available, it would help out with their currently downspiraling trust.

I got one “way back when,” I raced a few years under ARCA sanction.

At the time Joe Ruttman raced Late Models at the same tracks (Flat Rock & Mount Clemons Speedways) and the occasional NASCAR event, he was nice enough to pass an autographed copy along to me.
