Kahne-Menard: Ain’t that a Kick in the Teeth!

You can say one thing about the results of the “Hollywood Pander 300″ held at California Speedway Saturday evening. It should send more than a few of the “cookie-cutter,” “Fontana haters” visiting their metaphorical dentists looking to have their teeth straightened.

The Kahne-Menard dice in the last ten laps surely placed a size 12 fire-retardent shoe square in their yaps.

The dramatic finish didn’t reach ‘79 Daytona 500 status but if the claim is made it wasn’t exciting watching Kahne and Menard battle it out as time ran out (with multiple passes in the last 10 laps) and seeing Martin fight his way thru traffic to third place. Wondering if points leader Harvick could make up for an ill handling car all day, or whether Menards fuel fumes were enough (they didn’t), I have one suggestion fer ya: Have an EKG done. I think you may have “flatlined” already.

Yes, I know. The diehards will say “well…what do you expect, it was a Busch race.” It certainly was, on a track that is universally panned as one of the worst on the circuit. Get over it. I think the animosity towards Fontana is based more on this being Labor Day weekend and that has clouded more than a few people’s opinion.

Some have called Darlington’s loss of this weekend’s event “Borderline Criminal“. Nothing like being melodramatic huh Poole? Geesh, he must have OD’d on watching flics from this list before writing that post.

Kool-Aid drinkers aside, Saturdays event was a barnburner and if Sunday’s turns out to be the same you can expect another heapin’ helpin’ of scorn from this corner of the Blogosphere.
