Ken Schrader Tops ARCA RE/MAX Practice at Toledo
Ken Schrader, in his own No. 52 Federated Auto Parts Chevrolet, posted 16.248-second lap around the half-mile Toledo Speedway on Friday afternoon to top 32 drivers participating in a practice session in preparation for Friday evening’s ARCA RE/MAX 200 presented by Federated and Belle Tire.
The race, which marks the ARCA RE/MAX Series’ 66th appearance to Toledo Speedway, rolls off at 8:30 p.m.
Schrader, the veteran NASCAR/ARCA competitor whose 15 prior ARCA RE/MAX Series victories include four wins at Toledo, posted the fastest lap of the day during the closing laps of the session to top rookie of the year contenders Parker Kligerman (No. 77 Cunningham Motorsports Dodge) and Joey Coulter (No. 16 Darrel Gwynn Foundation-Tempest Cycles Chevrolet).
Fellow rookie Chris Buescher, in the No. 17 David Ragan Fan Club Ford, was quickest during much of the early stages of the 1.5-hour practice session, ending up fifth overall.
Frank Kimmel, the all-time ARCA RE/MAX Series winner at Toledo with nine victories, was fourth fastest in the No. 44 Ansell-Menards Ford.
All of today’s/tonight’s on-track activity, including practice (2-3:30 PM), Menards Pole Qualifying (5:00) and the 200-lap show finale (8:30), will be featured live in streaming video and audio via the ARCA Racing Network at ARCAracing.com.
NOTE: The 1969 Holman Moody Ford Torino used by Benny Parsons to win the 1968 and 1969 ARCA Championships will be on display at Toledo Speedway on Friday, September 4 as part of the ARCA RE/MAX 200 presented by Federated and Belle Tire race weekend.
The car, which looks exactly like it just pulled off the track in 1969, will be displayed in the concourse area and current owner Barry Miller will make a lap around the half-mile Toledo Speedway in the car during pre-race ceremonies.
