Kristin Bumbera Takes on the Boys of Texas

Kristin BumberaTexan Kristin Bumbera is ready to welcome the NASCAR Camping World Grand National Division to her home state of Texas but don’t think she’ll be serving sweet-tea to her fellow competitors.

Bumbera will be competing against some of the toughest and best men in the sport as the 3rd race on the schedule lands in the center of the lone star state. Bumbera will not have far to travel for this weekends race. Thunderhill Raceway in Kyle, TX is only a couple of hours from her home in Houston.

Bumbera and her TXI-MAXIMIZER CONCRETE #40 Chevrolet are sure to be the hometown favorites. TXI in their 3rd year as Bumbera’s primary sponsor is based out of Dallas, TX.

“I’m glad we have the opportunity to race at home in Texas where most of the TXI employees are. So many of the people at the corporate office that we deal with on a regular basis have never seen me race and this is a great one for them to come to. Our team has worked very hard to make the car competitive and we’re very happy with it. The car is fast, I’m ready and the race can’t get here soon enough.” said Bumbera.

She placed 2nd in points in 2006 racing in the Pro Late Model Division at THR with 2 top 5’s and 2 top 10’s. This same year she placed 4th in the ASA Pro Late Model Division at Houston Motorsports Park (HMP) with 2 wins, 4 top 5’s, 10 top 10’s and became the first female to win a late model race in Texas.

Things only got better in 2007 as she finished 2nd in points in the ASA Pro Late Models at HMP, lead a class of 37 men in the championship for 2 ½ months, had 5 top 5’s, 11 top 10’s, was honored with the Most Improved Driver Award, and became the first female to lead any type of championship in Texas. This while simultaneously competing in the ASA Pro Stock Division at HMP for a partial season finishing 4th in points and bringing home 3 wins, 9 top 5’s and 11 top 10’s.

At the age of 20, Kristin Bumbera is driving for Next Generation Racing, Inc. in the NASCAR Grand National Division this year and also a full season in the NASCAR Drive for Diversity program for Frank Jordan’s Golden State Racing in the NASCAR Whelen Late Model Series at All American Speedway in Roseville, CA.
