Let the Jeremy Mayfield Fire Sale Begin

Personal property of suspended NASCAR driver Jeremy Mayfield will go on the auction block Friday, Nov. 20, 2009. Among the items up for bid are a ranch home, construction equipment, trucks, miscellaneous tools and racing equipment. (The entire list is available here.)

According to the enclosed video it’s expected the auction will bring in 5 million dollars.

He’ll need every penny after his high priced attorney Bill Diehl either quit or was fired and replaced by Mark Geragos last month.

Diehl’s billing rate of a thousand dollars per hour, and figuring a “normal” work week, adds up to 40 thousand a week multiplied by approximately 20 to 24 weeks Diehl was in Mayfield’s employ. That, I submit, adds up to something north of Chump Change.
