Magny Cours Musings

The official French Grand Prix website is promoting this weekends F1 Circus as the “Le Duel” between world champion Fernando Alonzo and Michael Schumacher. In many ways it is and with both Ferrari’s on the front row it would led one to expect it to be.

I’m not convinced, (and niether is Briatore) I smell a few more fumes from “Le gasoline” eminating from the blue & yellow steeds than from the Prancing Horses. We’ll see. (for the record I’ll go with Schumacher win on pit strategy)

  1. Very well Marc, your wagering a MS victory on fuel/pit stop tactics? I will take you up on that bet, as I’m certain of frog victory with a frog engine/rubber on a frog track.

I can see where your coming from, Massa being up the pointy end is a indication of Japanese rubber rather than a indication of the driver. Let us see how it all pans out in the race.:-)

  2. Not just fuel/pit stop tactics Peter. It’s that Massa dude who barring a poor start will play blocking back.

Not to mention I have a funny feeling Alonzo is due for a cloud of blue smoke to complement his Renault’s livery.

  3. Hmmm… Guess Frogs, even in their own “pond,” can get speared and fried Peter. ;-)
And how about that blocking back Massa? No surprise, after all Massa did say he would help Michael if he could.

  4. Yeah I really did not read the Bridgestone situation, it will be interesting to see, at the German round, who is on top.In a way I’m happy, it should make for a interesting championship as the season continuues, old Alonso was galloping off into the distance with the points.

As for Massa, that was a real qualifying position with heavy fuel so he has really lifted his game.

  5. To really tighten up the race Alonzo needs a dnf or at least something further down the points table. 2 point bites out of his lead just won’t do it.

I’m surprised as you Massa had that much fuel but it’s good to see him progress after catching a bit of hell early in the year.

  6. Considering this swinging pendulem of tyre performance, I think next years control tyre will provide the level playing field we would like to see.
